Sierra College Leadership Needs $tart $mart Teachers and Volunteers!
The branch’s Sierra College Leadership Committee has for several years successfully offered $tart $mart at the college. National AAUW has recently revised the curriculum, shortening it to fit the college’s class periods, and we expect more requests from college faculty to offer sessions. To meet demand, we need more volunteers willing to teach the course.
Are you a retired teacher longing to occasionally get back into the classroom? Or are you interested in helping young women learn about how to negotiate their salaries? Here’s your opportunity! The $tart $mart course is online, and you can learn the curriculum with just a small investment of time. We suggest you observe a class, and be an assistant to a current AAUW $tart $mart instructor to see if this is of interest to you. Please contact Marietta Gonzales firstname.lastname@example.org or 824-2522 to learn more about the program.
The committee will be involved in other activities on campus, including the Elect Her event, selecting capable young women to attend AAUW’s National Collegiate Conference for Women Students, and occasionally staffing informational AAUW tables at campus events. It is rewarding to work with motivated young women who will be our future leaders. Join us! Contact Sue Miller , email@example.com if you’d like to know more.
